Satyamev Jayate.. Indain patients are Guinea Pigs

International pharma multinational companies are doing their drugs experiments on poor Indian patients. They are using poor  Indian patients as Guinea Pigs used in the laboratories, and our doctors are playing agents for  these kind of experiments, for multinational pharma cos. Sometime back in Madya Pradesh in Indore, a clinical trail was carried out on 1883 poor patients, they were unaware of this trail carried out on them, of a dangerous drug,of which 233 patients were mentally retarded. The entire fraud came to light when a NGO, in Indore named Swasth Adhikar Manch, approached the Superme Court against these  experiments.

As per the information given by Drug Controller General of India , in last four years, 2031 people have died due to clinical trials, and only 33 people have been given compensation for their death. Rest of the people were not compensated since they were not able to prove that the death had occurred due to clinical trails.

In Madya Pradesh these kind of illegal activities were running in three hosipitals since last four years. They had not taken permission from the Madya Pradesh government or from the patients. These clinical trials were carried out for the medicines made for Cancer, Diabeties, Asthma, for the drugs made by foriegn pharma companies. These trials were carried out in Indore's Mahatma Gandhi Medical College, Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsalaya and M. Y . Hospital. In this trail 12 government doctors , and total 78 doctors were involved. When this scam came to light the 12 government doctors were set free after only  paying a penalty of Rs 5000 only..

In clinical trail business the hospitals and the doctors earn big money at the cost of someones life. The doctors and the hospitals carrying out these trails were paid Rs 1.44 crores by the pharma cos In India any foriegn pharma gaint wants to do clinical trials have to take the permission of Clinical Research Organisation ( C R O}These kind of 100 companies are registered who are acting as agents of international pharma companies to carry out these kind of trails. The expenses incurred in Europe and America are exhorbitant to do such trails, where as in India it can be done in 1/10th of the cost .

In Indore on 33 mentally unstable patients, the clinical trials were carried out for erectile dysfunction , for the drug called Deproxsetine. These kind of trails on mentally retarded patients are banned were done by Indian doctors.

Regarding these clinical trails, there were discussions in Madya Pradesh Vidhan shabha and a police enqury was ordered,in which it came to light that six doctors were involved in carrying out these trails on 3300 patients, from which 81 patients died and the doctors earned Rs 5.10 crores. Even after when these facts had come out no action has been taken against the doctors.
